Costco will start selling indoor furniture at stores beginning this fall, a source close to the company told Axios on Friday.
The announcement comes less than two weeks after the company announced it was shutting down its online store and was discontinuing the outdoor furniture section.
Costco had previously said it planned to open the outdoor section to customers this fall.
The company said in December that it was cutting more than 1,400 jobs, including about 200 in the outdoor department.
The company said it had to make difficult decisions about how to reinvest some of the savings and how to invest more of the profits in other business lines.
The plan to sell outdoor furniture has long been part of Costco’s plan to diversify away from the traditional retail business.
The move comes amid a global economic slowdown, a weakening U.K. economy, a weak U.A.E. recovery and a surge in foreign demand.
