With a new flagship furniture store opening in downtown Seattle this month, Kane’s furniture chain has set its sights on another city: the online world.
Kane’s has an online store that sells more than 1,000 products ranging from kitchen cabinets and coffee tables to vintage furniture, wall hangings and bookshelves.
That’s in addition to a brick-and-mortar presence in Seattle and several other cities around the country.
Kanes founder and CEO Ken Kane said he was inspired to open the new store after seeing other companies using the same strategy of online sales.
Kanes is known for its affordable furniture and its long-time relationships with local artists.
Kanae Kanes opened its online store in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, in September.
It sells everything from vintage furniture to kitchen cabinets to vintage bookshelve shelving and more.
Kanae’s online store is a natural fit for Kanes because the company is focused on bringing quality products to the online community, Kane said.
Kanois online store features the same items as its brick- and-mortars stores, including Kanaes hand-picked catalogs and a curated selection of home decor, kitchenware and other items.
Karen and Scott Kane opened a small storefront in Seattle’s Pike Place Market on May 1, 2015.
The Kanes family has a history of selling furniture online.
In 2016, the family’s parent company, the Kane Family Furniture Company, sold Kanaean furniture, including wood, tile, granite, marble and mahogany furniture.
The family is the first family in Seattle to do this, Kanaane said.
The online store includes Kanaen cabinets, Kanes coffee table bookshelving and a selection of Kanes books.
The company has been expanding into more brick- &-mortarlike stores, as well as in online stores.
In addition to online sales, the company also offers a brick and mortar store in the Twin Cities and online delivery service.
Kanna’s is one of several online furniture retailers that have opened in recent years.
Etsy, the popular online marketplace for handmade items, is another recent addition to the fold.
Etsy is expanding into brick-&-mortarist stores in Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles and New York.
